News: Shadow Secretary of State for Environment visits BCAB in Brussels
On 28th September, Nick herbert MP, Shadow Secretary of State for Environment, Food and Rural Affairs, attended a “Pizza and Politics” evening with members and guests of the British Conservative Association in Belgium. Nick was discussing his two-day visit to Brussels, in which he was advocating market based methods for achieving environmental aims. Evening discussion touched on climate change, health, Europe and the Conservative Party’s general agenda for government. The Committee would like to thank Nick for his attendance at dinner and are looking forward to many future visits from Nick and his ministerial colleagues up to and subsequent to next year’s election.
News: BCAB 2009 events calendar starting to fill up
Building up to the expected general election in 2010, the British Conservative Association in Belgium is ramping up its activities and events in 2009. Starting with a Dinner & Politics evening with Roger Helmer MEP in April and continuing in July with the Lords Ashes Cricket and a reception for the assistants of the new European Conservatives and Reformists group in the European Parliament, BCAB will be serving the Party and reaching out to potential new members. The Conservatives Abroad Conference 2008 on Saturday 11th October was a great success, with speeches from the Rt Hon Francis Maude MP, Dr Liam Fox MP, reports from Conservative Party branches from around the world and an excellent debate on the European Union.
